Today is a day of rejoice for fans of salt, tequila, tripe sec, ice and lime juice.
Saturday is National Margarita Day.
The made-up holiday celebrated each Feb. 22 even has its own website.
Here is what Nationalmargaritaday.com has to say about the invention the drink:
There is much debate as to the exact individual responsible for inventing the classic margarita, although it was during the 1930s or 1940s. Frozen margaritas were invented later in 1970s when an inventive bartender converted a soft serve ice cream unit into a frozen margarita machine. Whether you prefer a classic margarita on the rocks or frozen, it is the most common tequila-based cocktail in the United States today. Hence National Margarita Day.
Adobe Gilas at the Greene, 78 Plum St. in Beavercreek, is getting into a fiesta mood with a special event 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday that will benefit the Ohio Valley Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Our son introduced us to the world of multiple sclerosis, event organizer Ann Foster said in a press release. He was diagnosed almost 2 years ago at the age of 20. We, as a family, decided to take this on together and do what we can to help find a cure.
The official flier is attached to this story. It must be presented to participate in the fundraiser. The restaurant will donate 10 percent of sales of those with the flier.
Call 937-458-0330 to reach the restaurant.
The whole thing leads to a very important question: who has the best margaritas in town?
Elsas Mexican Restaurant & Cantina with its multiple Dayton area locations typically destroys the field in Active Daytons Best of Dayton polling.
But is Elsas Bad Juan still king or has it been dethroned?
You tell us.
Which area eatery makes the best margarita?
